Historical Paper Advent Calendar “The Little Town” from 1946
“The Little Town” is the first Advent calendar published by Sellmer Verlag, dating from 1946. The long row of houses depicts a nostalgic townscape, with new scenes to discover behind the many windows day after day.
The paper Advent calendar can be displayed or hung up. The images on the back complement the scene on the front and glow atmospherically when the calendar is placed in front of a light source. Silver glitter embellishes the historic design.
The design also became well known in the USA: The Eisenhower presidential family was photographed with this Advent calendar for publication in newspapers. “The Little Town” is therefore not only a classic Christmas decoration, but also a unique piece of Advent calendar history.
